We shared how to wash and care for your bras from our previous guide, (If you haven’t already, check out our  Wash and Care Guide!)

When is it time to replace your bra?

The recommendation is to replace your bra Every 6 to 9 months depending on how many bras you have in your regular rotation.

Here are our 6 Tips to know when it’s time to replace your bra:

1. Your bra no longer fits

A big sign that that points to a bra gone bad is when a bra is no longer fits. It means that it's time to replace your bra. Fit and comfort go hand in hand, a good fit should be both comfortable and supportive.

2. Your bra is starting to feel loose at the tightest hook

Bras will stretch out over time from washing and wearing so the rule of thumb when you’re buying a bra is to have it hooked on the last hook and work your way in as the bra band stretches over time. When you’ve made your way to the inner most hook and the bra feels loose, it’s time to replace your bra.

3. Your bra straps are slipping off your shoulders

Bra straps can also lose their stretch and recovery over time, if you find yourself fidgeting with your bra straps or if they’re slipping off your shoulders when they’re fully adjusted, it’s time to replace your bra.

4. Your bra underwire is bent or pokes through

When the underwire is compromised, whether it’s bent out of shape and doesn’t lay flat against you or the wire is poking through, it’ll be painful to wear and you know it’s time to replace your bra. Underwires generally shouldn’t poke through if you are wearing the correct size and fit for your body type. A good quality bra along with proper wash and care will help keep your wires from poking out.

5. Your bra feels too big or too small

Weight fluctuations can happen to all of us but for a bra to be comfortable and to function properly a good fit is very important. Bras that are too big or too small don’t provide the best support, it’s best to remeasure and replace your bra for a better fit.

6. Your bra starts to stink (which happens sometimes)

Unfortunately, once your bra starts to smell funky and it’s impossible to get rid of the smell even after you wash and dry them properly. Sweat and body heat will keep contributing to the funk, that’s when you know you need to replace your bra.
